ILP#3 Tinkercab

The software Tinkercab is used for 3-d printing. It give you the opportunity to create different shapes into beautiful word of art. As an Educator i could use Tinkercab to make different objects come to life. I could make 3-d letters for my students so they could learn the how to create three letters words. If there was a model that i wanted to create but i could not make it myself there is a way they i could upload images and it would create it for me. Also i believe that Tinkercab can be used well with students who have learning disabilities. It would be easier from them to write out letters if they can have a model that they can touch. The program was user-friendly, any grade level would benefit from it.

Blog post #10

I will use the data collection tool as a teacher to understand if my student are grasping a concept. I also could use it as a way to see how my students think i could improve. Since i will be teaching high school social science (i.e US government) i could make surveys to see if they understand how the U.S government works. I could also make surveys and ask questions about if they think i presented the material well or if they feel like i'm moving to fast when discussing topic. By gathering that information it could inform me if i need to review a topic or not,

After reviewing my classmates's blogs i found it interesting to see the different points of views for different topics such as Web 2.0 tools. It allowed me the opportunity to see things in different perspectives. Since everyone has a different desired grade level it was fun to see how they would implement things from a high school level to a elementary level. I also enjoyed seeing how creative they were when we made our websites and various powerpoints which made me want to be creative as well.

I would like to learn about Microsoft Access. I would like to learn about that application because it is apart of Microsoft Office.  I'm pretty sure it does something cool but i just don't know what that is. I can achieve this goal by looking up different youtube videos to show me cool features. I could also play around in the application and see what i discover.

Blog Post #8

The Dynavision D2 system allows athletes to train their perceptual vision. It allows athletes to improve their peripheral awareness and process multiple tasks more efficiently and rapidly. I believe that the Dynavison D2 can be used to help students who have ADHD. It would allow students to reads books that are prompted on the screen while touching the lit buttons to increase comprehension. It could be used as a fun game for students. As a math teacher, you could have mathematic problems on the screen that students must answer while trying to touch the buttons that are lit up.

I will use PowerPoint to support student learning at each level of Bloom’s Taxonomy.  The first level of the Bloom’s Taxonomy is “Remember” PowerPoint can help students remember but teachers can have slides with definitions of words that are important to the topic. The second level is “understand” PowerPoints can provide notes to help the student comprehend the topic. The third level is “apply” it could help students to use information in new situations.  Teachers can create demonstrate different scenarios to help students comprehend the topic.
The fourth level is “analyze” to draw connection among ideas. Teachers can create comparison charts for students to understand what to topics have in common. The fifth level is to “evaluate” to justify a stand or decision. Teachers can make PowerPoints into a fun game where students can have a debate on a topic to increase comprehension and public speaking.
The sixth level is to “create” to produce new or original l work. As teacher you can make your PowerPoint presentation as creative as you like. You could use music, pictures, graphs, different fonts and many more to appeal to your liking.

#7 I

According to the podcast, Adaptive or Assistive Technology is defined as technologies that help people with disabilities more effectively use computing equipment. They can be used to support learners. For example, if you are blind you would be able to use the voice recognizer.  I have to Siri which is a voice recognizer to send a message for me because i was driving. Challenges for the classroom would include if we have the funding to have these equipment on hand.

The new skills i acquired from learning how to use weebly to make a website. I learned how i could insert pictures and hyperlink them. I learned some amazing things about US government. I learned how i could embed my google calendar to go on my website. I found that to be interesting because i did not know that i could do that. What i did not like about weebly was i have to contact support services in order to have my page created. I did not enjoy how i had to pay for a membership for some of the features. Overall, i had fun creating my own web page.

This new skills i learned from working with diigo included knowing how to effectively sort different sources by the hashtag. This can be useful in the classroom because it would allow me to be organized with my sources by having them in one place. Diigo would help me as a student by allowing me and others to swap information or tips on our teaching skills. Since i would like to become a principal diigo would be perfect with I'm discussing strategies, i would like the my teachers to use.

ILP Participation Lynda

My learning experience using Lynda allowed me to get help regarding classroom management through a list of videos that demonstrated the Fundamental Do's and Don't's of effective classroom management. I learned important information about how i should speak to my students, manage classroom rules, maximize classroom time and even redirect my students. Using Lynda was amazing. The site was easy to navigate and i enjoyed the structured layout. I was able to watch videos and follow along with a transcript just in case i did not understand what the video was saying. It also had this cool tool that allowed me to take notes as the video was playing so i could later go back and review all the information i learned, which was beneficial because i did not have to take notes on paper. Lynda also allowed me to asses my knowledge of Classroom Management with a quiz of eight questions. After i completed the course i received a cute certificate that i am able to share on my social media pages so everyone will know i understand Classroom Management.

The information I see publically on Darnel Cookman Middle/High School am Ms.Fiser’s AP Biology and Case Studies were different tabs depending on the class. The front page has a a link for the students to take notes on. On the tab with 16-17 case studies it has a list of what the students will be doing for each day they attend the class. The AP Biology link has a miscellaneous page with a safety agreement, Resources for investigation and Labs and the Power points of the 3 units that will be covered throughout the year.

I envision myself using technology to accomplish my professional responsibilities by knowing how to do mail merge to keep my student’s parents inform on important things they will need to know. I will also use Desktop publishing because According to Chapter 7, it will let me have a format for flyers, forms, invitations and newsletters that I could use to present information in a different way other than a Power point. Electronic spreadsheet also will benefit me because it will allow me to store data in an organized manner. It could also make calculations easier. Database management will benefit me in terms of Queries which can assists students in practicing logical and critical thinking skills.

The smart board was in the tech sandbox. The smart board can be used as a interactive tool in the class room because the smart board is touchscreen teachers can run different educational programs on it. It is relatively easy to each and it can take the place of the basic whiteboards in most classrooms. It can used for notes taking, you can even allow your students to play games on it on it and you could even examine 3-d figures. For example, if I was a science teacher and was discussing the components of a cell, I could actually give my students a 3-d picture of each component and a location of it.
