One of the ELA technology standard i that feel most prepared to Teach would be SL. 5 "Use Digital Media- Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentation" because I'm really good at putting together powerpoints and making them interactive for students. Since i would be teaching high school the standards states " Make strategic use of digital media in presentation to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning and evidence and to add interest. I found this to be a outlet so students could express their understanding of topics. I found that most of the standards to require work from me because I'm not familiar with any of them BUT one in particular that i found challenging is L.S "Vocabulary:Use Context Clues" because i find it diffcult how i can tie the material taught in my classes to the standard. In my opinion the standards feels to lean told more on a English/ELA class subject.
The type of technology i want to use with my students is the internet, videos and academic portals. The digital concepts i would have to address with my students are to demonstrate the technology skills necessary to use and participate on the web, to demonstrate "netiquette" in their web interaction, to precept personal information about themselves and others, to be aware of and obey copyright laws, participation in the community is meaningful, appropriate and on topic and advances the community as a whole. Since i want to teach high school i will be dealing with student ranging from 14 year olds- 19 year olds.
The new skills i acquired from working with the newsletter design assignment were:
1. I learned how to make a boarder- So i have never imagined having to actually have a border because i simply only use word to type assignments
2. Columns.....Listen i always knew that i could type in columns on word but i just assumed that i would never have to. I can not lie its pretty cool!!!!! i think I'm going to start using columns more often
3. I learned how to make a my word art different colors with a 3d version, i could add a shadow color along with changing the shape. I honestly have not used word art work since 9th grade. I did not know Microsoft word had a nice little "glo up"
What i did not like was how long it took me to complete the assignment but i have to understand that the job I'm signing up for will be time cosuming especially if i want to make a big impact on my students. I can improve my newsletter next time by adding pictures. I could not get my picture to stay for some reason. I could also add more color. Below is a screenshot

Copy Right #2
Microsoft word has become part of my daily life. As a student
I have used Microsoft Word to write essays and complete
assignments. I have seen my teachers use Microsoft word to write down ideas we
may have during a classroom discussion. They have also used Microsoft word to make
lesson plans and exams. I remember my sixth grade teacher used it as a way to
present certificates to students who are excessing in her class. One of my high
school teachers used Microsoft word as a checklist when she was going over her expectations and standards in class.
My experience with copyright and fair use of materials has
been pretty limited because of an incident in my 9th grade Geometry
class I allowed my best friend to copy my geometry project because he did not
finish his. When doing the equation and getting an answer instead of my
rounding off I wrote the entire number on my paper…so did he! My geometry
teacher did not call us out about it however, she made a broad statement that cheating
was not allowed. Instead of her giving me and my friend a zero she only gave us
a 75! The project was extremely easy and I was disappointed at him for now
rounding the numbers but more disappointed at myself for allowing him to copy
my work. I received a B in geometry…. *insets sad face*
As a teacher I would not tolerate any kind of cheating
however, I would inform students of that in the beginning and have posters posted in class so they know that I’m serious about it. I would have my students cite any
sources to avoid the copyright issue. I would ask my administration if I have
any question regarding the topic.
The skills I acquired from learning about twitter and other
learning networks was that I did not think lots of people used twitter as a PLN. I found
many educators who had the same interest as me and I was shocked. In my future
career I can use PLN’s to help me accomplish things at my school such as
fundraisers and donations. I can also use them to get different ideas and how
to teach my students concepts that may be difficult.

Blog Post #1
Computers are an important part of the education
experience because there are standards that provides a roadmap for how
educators should teach and skills students will need to perform in the 21st
Century. The critical concerns of teachers and students using computers is many
schools lack economic resources although funds are spent on technology it is
insufficient to ensure students and teachers will have what they need to
maximize learning. Another challenge facing teachers is integrating technology
through planning and managing. Teachers also have to be aware of social media
through using time management skills. Students challenges are understanding the
different learning styles of children who made not care for technology as well
as others.
The ISTE standard that gladdens my heart is standard one “Facility and
Inspire student learning and creativity”. I believe it is important to allow
students to be creative in their school work because it is more engaging. I
love the idea of collaborating with other students with feedback of their work.
I am not fond of standard five “Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership” simply
because I would hate having to attend meeting and workshops discussing topics
that I would probably already know. However, I would do it because I would want
my students to receive the best education they can from me.
A digital native is a person who was born after digital technology. It
is a category for children who are exposed to technology in the early years. I
have seen the difference between myself (digital native) and my teachers
(digital immigrants) use of technology. My older teachers rely used smart
boards or projectors to teach concepts because they did not know how to use them.
I believe if my teacher had used technology I would have understood the content
better. The difference I anticipate between my students and I would be simply
the advancement of technology. I might not be up to date with my technological
skills as my students so it could be some discourse there but overall I hope
that I could give them the best possible education.
